Researching Employers
Whether you want a new opportunity in your current field or a complete career change, researching employers is a vital part of the process. Knowledge of the employers will help you to decide which companies you would like to work for, you can also use this knowledge in order to ask questions in the interview. Preparation is the key to success, in order to help you establish which employer you would like to work for you should gain important information about the companies financial stability etc.
When you have identified a specific employer or industry the next step is to find out about specific people who will have information with regards to available vacancies. When researching employers you find out the following:
• What does the company do?
• What is the company’s financial state and are they planning to expand or downsize?
• Who are their major competitors?
• What skills are they looking for?
• What you can offer them?
By researching employers you will feel more positive about your interview and you will also come across much more confident. You should show that you have taken time out to do your research and prepare for the interview
